    The Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico seeks applicants for a position in the Department of Accounting, subject to availability of funding. The appointment may be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in a probationary status leading to a tenure decision or may be a tenured position depending on qualifications. The position is anticipated to begin Fall 2009. For best consideration, please submit applications by September 1, 2008, however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

    The University of New Mexico is the largest university in the state, enrolling approximately 26,000 students. All programs in the Anderson School of Management and the Department of Accounting are AACSB-accredited and enroll approximately 1100 undergraduate and 400 graduate students. The Department of Accounting offers a BBA in accounting, a Master of Accounting and an Accounting Concentration in the MBA program.

    Minimum requirements:
    Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or DBA in accounting or related field, or be ABD with expected completion of degree by August 2009. Applicants must be prepared to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Evidence of an ongoing program of research or the potential to develop such a program
    • Compatibility with current department research directions
    • Evidence of strong teaching credentials
    • Candidates with a professional certification (i.e., Certified Public Accountant)
    • All areas of accounting will be considered with preference given to teaching expertise in tax accounting

Relevant academic preparation, prior teaching experience, and relevant professional experience will be considered. The academic preparation should consist of at least a Master?s Degree in a field related to the area of the teaching assignment or substantial equivalent preparation. The professional experience should be relevant to the instructor?s teaching assignment, significant in duration and level of responsibility, and current (for at least 3 years in the last 5) at the time of hiring. Applicants are encouraged to provide information on prior teaching experiences including course content, student evaluations, and course assignments. Please state major or concentration for degrees earned, the dates the degrees were earned and the institutions awarding the degrees. Professional certification or advanced degree required for accounting and finance courses and a J.D., for business law courses. Applicants must specify which course or courses they wish to teach, which semester(s) they are available, and which day(s) of the week and time(s) they are available to teach.
